Update on the spelling to read to write programme quarter 1 2024

My name is Roberto Anele Ndaba. I am the Teacher Assistant at visisani primary school,This is my update for quarter 1 of 2024.

We have completed the following activities for quarter 1 of 2024:

- The big red apple, How to become a superhero, Vowels, Consonants(cahrt A&B, ORF(Oral Spelling Test), ORF(Oral Reading Test), Snap games from the resources pack, class management processes, Reading workout(Charlie & Bravo).

Highlights for quarter 1 2024

- My highlights for quarter 1 was that every learner showed seriousness and concentration in the activities and tests that were given to them.

- Highlights is that some learners managed to improve their reading skills for quarter 1 and its was a great improvement for those who were struggling with their reading skills.

- Other learners are showing potential towards their spelling and improved alot in their vowels and consonant charts.

- The activities yhat were handed out to us as TA's were very useful/helpful to learners , not only in improving their skills also in tests tha they were writing for quarter 1.

- Learners in grade 6 have improved a little bit at their writing and are learners that need special attention when it comes to writing and their spelling.

Challenges

- Other learners were absent from school about 2 to 3 days.

- Some learners were very slow during the first quarter.

- Improved learners wee showing a decrease at their potential rate of learning, reading, spelling and writing.

- Few priority learners were slacking and they were very time consuming while i was conducting the class work.

- Other teachers were busy trying to complete their curiculum, some days the learners were not able to attend a class with me as agreed with the school.

- learners were showing interest but never improved in their reading and spelling skills.

- Most learners are struggling to pronounce words like: House, Rabbit , Cooking, Hiking, Mouse etc.

QUARTER 2: PROGRAMME OF IMPROVEMENT

What is my main focus for next quarter?

- next quarter my focus is to improve all learners that are willing to enter the spelling bee competition.

- Help learners who struggle to read consonants (Chart A&B).

- Improve the writing skills of priority learners from grade 4 to grade 6.

- Apply new ways in instructing learners while i am inducting a class.

- lastly/ finally all activity packages given by spell2read2write must be accomplished by every priority learner which is choosen.
