Serving on the front-line of society, teachers encounter endless stressful situations and impossible expectations. How can teachers be stronger psychological beings in order to avoid burnout and learn to cope with the immediate and long-term stress inherent within their jobs? The answer is meditation. Lisa Klein will speak about the benefits of meditation in her personal life as well as in her professional life as an educator. She will explain how the practice of meditation has enabled her to be healthier physically and mentally. By empowering teachers to be stronger psychological beings, meditation helps teachers understand and respond to their students on a more positive and profound level. Teachers are the key players in this “village” that is molding our future generations. The healthier teachers are, the brighter our future will be.
Lisa Klein started meditating in 1993, and a decade later, she became certified to teach meditation. Lisa taught at Duquesne University for eight years, where she completed her doctorate in 2008. As part of her studies, she conducted research on the effects of mantra meditation on classroom teachers. Additionally, Lisa has taught English at Baldwin High School for 19 years and serves as the head of the English Department.
