Ramabele Secondary School started operating since 1970 as a junior school situated in the New Eersterus, Hammanskraal, North West Province former Bophuthatswana. Post 1994 the school was incorporated into Tshwane North District, Gauteng Department of Education, and consisted of three grades namely; 7, 8, and 9.

In 2019 the school was upgraded from being a junior to a secondary school by introducing the first group of grade 10 and 11 learners in 2020. The school vision is to become a fully-fledged secondary school by 2021 consisting of grades 8 to 12. The school is classified as a no-fee school in Quintile 1 according to the Gauteng Department of Education.

The main target audience for the school is predominantly pupils from the New Eersterus community with the majority of the pupils coming from the new nearby settlements and surrounding areas. The community is known for the many socio-economic challenges including lack of adequate local infrastructure, single parent and child-headed households, high unemployed parents including elderly citizens.

To date, the school enrolment has been ranging between 1000 and 1200 learners for the past three years. The 2020 enrolment is currently seating at 961 which comprises 478 girls, 483 boys, and 56 orphans. The school operates a nutrition programme providing basic food necessary for the learners to cope with daily requirements for mental and physical wellbeing. Also, the school operates a transport service for a total of 380 learners to ensure that the learners are not deprived of the opportunity to attend school.

The school management team includes 1 Principal, 2 Deputy Principals, 4 Departmental Heads, 24 Educators, 3 Administration Assistants, 5 General Assistants, and 5 Caterers. The school infrastructure development project is still ongoing with 10 mobile, 19 brick, and mortar classrooms. The building project for additional 7 brick and mortar classrooms has commenced and expected to be completed by 2021.
