1st Quarter Report of March 2024

Good Day
- My name is Thembinkosi Dyum, I am from Burgersdorp In the Eastern Cape at Joe Gqabi District. I am the Assistant Teacher at Mpumelelelo Mfundisi Public Primary School. What I'm doing ? I do provide or offer assistance from the prior learners that were selected according to the criteria in terms of reading, writing, spelling and pronunciation under the programme called spell2read2write. Simply my duty is to ensure that the prior learners acquire these skills which needed to become better students in the future.
On the 1st Quarter of year, 2024 I have been embarking on on this journey , that started long time ago under the programme called spell2read2write in the schools whereby we educate and prepare the prior learners on how to read, write and how to spell as well. There are activities under the curriculum of spell2read2write that guides me on what to do every single day. I personally have completed the following activities:-
- Orf Tests
- Capital Vowels Sounds
- Small Vowel Sounds
- Consonants Chart A
- Consonants Chart B
- Audio Sounds
Highlights
During the 1st Quarter of the year, all my prior learners were excited because their were excited. Committed, dedicated and motivated. Each and everyone of them literally contributing to the process of teaching and learning . As results their improved tremendously in terms of reading fluency, writing and so forth. It has also created a friendly, interesting and fun environment.
Challenges
- Lack of time
- Lack of materials such laptop and the projector to make teaching and learning more interesting and fun
- A few individuals who still have to work hard to improve the standards to the top.
In the next quarter I will
Mainly I will be focusing on the below details:-
- Read Aloud
- Doing word puzzle
- Spelling
- Listen and speaking Oral instructions
- 70 words practice test
- Vowels Sounds
I strongly believe that as I continue working with the prior learners, there is still much more to accomplish on 2nd quarter.
