Update on the Spell2read2write programme Q1, 2024.

My name is Malibongwe Kama, I am a Teacher Assistant at Philipstown high school.

In Quarter 1, we completed the following activities of the spell2read2write programme. We've manage to complete the ORF assessments even though we did not have enough time to dwell more on the assements. The sounds and songs assessments were the most enjoyable of the the assessments as the priority learners showed excitement when we were doing these assessments still we had an issue with time but we manage to practice what was said in those videos. I'm certain the priority learners are excelling when it comes to these assessments.

The highlight for the Quarter was the willingness of most priority learners to better their skill of writing and reading and showed me commitment by not missing any class sessions.

The challenges I found were the time to engage with the learners, sometimes the participation of the priority learners especially Afrikaans learners.

In the next quarter I will be focusing on improving the reading and spelling of the priority learners who did not manage to improving this quarter and also focusing on sharpening the skill of the improved learners.
