Spell2read2write programme

I am the Teacher Assistant at: Maruping Primary School.
Joe Gqabi District.
This is my update for Quarter 1 of 2024
In Quarter 1, we completed the following activities of the spell2read2write programme:
The ORF test
The Consonant A Chart with the Songs
Chart B Consonant with the song
The Vowels with the song.
How the vowels are pronounced different depending on the eg. Abbreviation and Apple .
How different Consonants are pronounced for example C=K in some words and U= A in some words.
Reread the ORF test to improve the kids reading.
Completed 4th course .
4. The highlight for the Quarter was:
Meeting the new learners for the first and seeing they excitement to kick start the term.
5. The challenges I found are as follows the learners struggle to read certain words as this is a huge transition for them from learning in isiXhosa from grade 1- 3 now transitioning into being thought in English in all they subjects so there was a bit of a struggle there.
6. In the next quarter I will be focusing on:
On developing they reading skills so that they are able to read, comprehend and when it comes to answering questions that they will be able to answer they test questions.
The ORF test- Tested how many words the learners can read.
The Consonant A Chart with the Songs
Chart B Consonant with the songs. And helping to sing the words as per video.
The Vowels with the song and helping them to sing along.
How the vowels are pronounced different depending on the eg. Abbreviation and Apple .
How different Consonants are pronounced for example C=K in some words and U= A in some words.
Reread the ORF test to improve the kids reading. Through examples on the Blackboard.
