The Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) is a non-profit organization that aims to promote education and socio-economic development. EFSS focuses on providing education, leadership development, and community-building initiatives to support individuals and marginalized communities through grassroots activities geared toward encouraging literacy, community peace, tolerance, and development.

A group of educated and dynamic youth registered (Registration Number 3,852) EFSS at the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) in September 2021 to contribute to addressing urgent community needs. The organization is not limited to any specific sector or geography.

Excellence Foundation South Sudan is an independent duly registered non-governmental and nonprofit national organization based in South Sudan. Excellence Foundation for South Sudan’s prime motto is capacity building and services delivery to the people of the society.

In 2019 a group of educated, dynamic and like-minded youth working in the various sectors, got together to establish an organization, for addressing the most urgent and pressing needs of the people of South Sudan. True to this spirit the organization was named Excellence Foundation for South Sudan.

Considering their association with the development sector the group is cognizant of the plethora of problems plaguing the country. Consequently, the organization’s focus will not be kept limited either in terms of geography or sector. Operating in different parts of South Sudan, Excellence Foundation for South Sudan will be carrying a range of interventions in the areas of education, health & hygiene, youth & women empowerment, emergency response & preparedness, safety, mentorship, human rights, etc.

The type of activities undertaken by the organization range from capacity building to service delivery, with focus remaining on the deprived and marginalized segments of the society. Whereas in terms of operations what characterizes Excellence Foundation for South Sudan’s functioning are its efforts to (a) enlist involvement of the locals when initiating activities at the grass root level; and (b) mobilize community for bringing peace, tolerance, and development in society.

Although a somewhat new entry in the development arena, Excellence Foundation for South Sudan – hopes to establish linkages with national & international funding agencies – to enjoy a diverse portfolio, characterized by partnership with organizations like National Non-Governmental Organisations, UN Agencies, respective Ministries, State and National Governments of South Sudan.

Management Team

Excellence Foundation for South Sudan is governed by an eight-member board consisting of a chair, vice-chair, secretary, treasurer, and three members. The project team has an Executive Director, Programs Manager, Project Assistant, Finance and Administrative Manager, Finance and Administrative Associate, Communications Manager, Public Relations Associate, and Support Staff. The project team is usually expanded based on specific project needs.

Excellence Foundation for South Sudan is a non-profit organization that aims to promote education and socio-economic development in South Sudan. The organization's philosophy is based on a value-based system that contributes to the education of young people. The organization believes that education is a key driver of socioeconomic development and that young people are the innovators of tomorrow. The organization strives to provide school activities that encourage pupils and students to practice innovation today. The organization engages in community mobilization to raise awareness in the community about career guidance, health and hygiene, the importance of education in modern-day affairs, gender-related issues, socio-economic development, and environmental protection. The organization's culture is centered around community and social mobilization, and it engages in community meetings, conducts training/capacity-building sessions, and launches campaigns to implement its programs/projects. The organization is an independent, duly registered non-governmental, and nonprofit national organization based in South Sudan.

Fundraising

As an organization, we recognize the importance of fundraising to support our programs and projects aimed at promoting education and socio-economic development in South Sudan. We explore various fundraising strategies, including:

Grant proposals: We develop grant proposals to seek funding from organizations such as the Embasses to South Sudan, UN Agencies, INGOs, and other subgrants

Community fundraising and Corporate partnerships:: We can engage in community fundraising activities such as organizing charity events, and auctions to raise funds for our programs and projects. We also seek partnerships with corporations that share our values and mission to support our programs and projects.

Online fundraising: We can leverage online platforms such as crowdfunding websites and social media to raise funds for our programs and projects.

Schools contest: We can organize the Schools contest as an annual competition with partners designed to inspire and challenge primary and secondary school students with an enriching experience that shall be a unique opportunity for students to push themselves further and excel as South Sudanese leaders of tomorrow.
