Update on the Spell2read2write programme Q1, 2024

My name is Sibusiso.M.Gumenke. I am the teacher Assistant at Ethembeni. Senior. Secondary. School. This is my update for Quarter 1 of 2024.
In Quarter 1, we completed the following activities of the Spell2read2write programme.
- Vowel sounds videos small letters and capital letters
- Consonant sounds videos small letters and capital letters
- ORF tests and capturing scores
- Alison courses and assessments
- virtual mentorship meetings with Mrs Judith
The Highlights for the Quarter was
The interest and knowledge I have obtained as I have completed the Alison courses and assessments was a great mind opener.
Working with new learners whom are full of energy and enthusiasm made my lesson preparations to be a success in class
The improvement on reading and also vocabulary has been outstanding in this Quarter as I have witnessed some good improvement since the beginning of the year.
The Challenges Found:
Time management with the school as I have to adhere with the school time table
Discipline and managing the class as it most of the time consume time
In the next Quarter I will be focusing on
-working closely with the priority learners on improving reading and vocabulary
-identifying learners for the Spelling Bee competition
